So LOTS of construction background.
There appears to be no “shortage” of “Construction Management” personnel coming out of College. While those graduates are all “up to speed” on the latest Construction Management Software”, probably 95% of these new CM’s, totally lack ANY field experience so they can generate and print a “lovely” schedule but have little to no understanding what is going on inside the new building. Are they answering RFI’s or simply forwarding them on to the appropriate Engineer who typically “sits on the question” until the field mechanic gets “pressured” into a “experience related” solution because he’s “causing delays” to the schedule??
If you’re going to be pro-active, work with the school districts to bring back the shops and apply some focus on skill type occupations, of course along with the necessary academic courses that will come into play as well. Emphasize, “doing it RIGHT the first time, is always faster than doing it over to make it correct !!! Also, REQUIRE some field experience of those who are going to graduate with a degree in “CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT” !!!
